Thomley’s first ever home education day focused on consultation with families and their children. Starting with introductions, the group discussed why they have opted for home education, the approach they have chosen to take and the support they would like from Thomley.
Group consesus was that Thomley should provide non-curriculum based opportunities for social interaction, exercise and sports, sensory activities, life skills, and activities to develop fine and gross motor skills. Families were eager that the day offered free choide for children with some timetabled activities for those who want to join in a group activity. The group was eager to welcome parents of disabled children who are just thinking about the pros and cons of home education.
Opening at 10am, the next home education day on May 11th will offer a variety of creative, sensory and social activities and will offer timetabled opportunities as follows: -
11:30am – a warm and informal discussion group to introduce new families and share experiences.
12:00pm – a fun and inclusive assault course for children of all ages and abilities.
1:30pm – an interactive sports session
